Edit: The NYT reports that the ethics committee will NOT be gutted!  
House Republicans are moving FAST to “significantly curtail the power of an independent ethics office set up in 2008 in the aftermath of corruption scandals that sent three members of Congress to jail. … The House Republicans’ move would take away both power and independence from an investigative body, and give lawmakers more control over internal inquiries.” (Source: NYT.)

I’m kind of FOR ethics oversight, rather than against. I’m going to call my representative in the House.

Find your representative and call their D.C. office TODAY before 10:00am CST, before the full House votes on this. Suggested script:

“Hi, I am your constituent from [where you live] and I would like [representative name] to vote AGAINST the amendment to strip independence from the Congressional Ethics Office.”
